This is another entry for a deviantart survivor challenge. This round we were partnered with a person to represent in a deviation. I was chosen to represent Shirral (an amazing artist by the way =D).

I did some browsing through her gallery and this piece [link] really struck me as unique and different. Shirral definitely has an evident style and great use of creativity in their piece. So anyway, I decided I wanted to reinterpret Shirral's piece through my own style. =)

Your use of charcoal/chalk (or pastels?) is just amazing... And I'm happy you chose this one - in your version, it's like a third person, caring for the caring! Great idea with putting it into the hands :aww:

Thank you! :huggle: I'm so glad you like it! ^^ It was done with charcoal and chalk pencils. =) I've been doing some experimentation with the media recently and thought this would be a cool one to try it with. ;)

You have some real talent in sketching. Did you know that? I simply adore how you use black and white so effectively for shaping the positive and neagtive highlights.

Aw, thank you Dem! :huggle: The black and white thing is kind of new to me still, but I'm trying to find the right technique for it. :)

I think you use it very well. I know I can't use negative and postive space so well.
